Bessie and Corkie music box, Bessie's apronHave you seen the Bessie & Corkie music box with a piece of my grandma’s apron glued to the front?  After I announced that a little piece of Bessie’s apron would be attached, I could not find my stash of her aprons.  My daughter Lisa dutifully sacrificed the one she had.  Bessie always wore an apron with a pocket to keep her snuff, a tiny spoon to dip with, and a blackgum toothbrush.  She would go into the woods and break off a small 6″ twig from a blackgum tree, peel about a half inch of the bark off one end and use it to polish her teeth.  Of course she could have taken them out to polish them, but it just would not be the same.  There were times that I wanted to emulate my sweet grandma my mixing cocoa and sugar and pretending to be dipping snuff.  Ahhhh… those were the good old days.

If you have called the factory, you are aware that we have shortened our office hours.  We are open Monday - Thursday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.  If you call during lunch and no one answers, Carolyn is probably at the “Hungry Hut” where we have eaten lunch for the past 20 years.
